Cedar House

This replacement dwelling nestles in the heart of the rolling hills of the South Downs National Park through its use of dark cladding and feature glazing.

The client’s brief was inspired by Swiss Chalet Architecture and family living. We responded to this Swiss influence by designing a modern building with large eaves overhangs and black cladding with contrasting white window and door frames.

To respond to the South Downs, the building needed to settle in the Petersfield countryside. This was achieved by creating a dark building through materials such as slate, dark zinc roof and burnt cedar cladding.
